Where I Belong

I fell in love with this book the minute I picked it up, I loved it so much that I couldn't put it down and read it in a day. If you love books about southern belles, then this is for you. I will say that in the beginning that I could not stand Corrinne and wanted to smack her upside the head, but was happy that she changed by the end. Corrinne sounds like a spoiled city-girl princess, but changes her attitude and ends up loving Texas. The longer she stays in Broken Spoke, Texas the more she warms up to the people in this town, from being best friends with Kitsy Kidd, who was always nice to her even when Corrinne didn't want any friends, to helping Ginger raise money at the town rodeo to help others to be able to ride horses when they can't afford it themselves.

***Spoilers Below***
This is about a girl born into the Manhattan privilege society, went out shopping and spending as much as she wanted without a care in the world. Finding out that her father lost all their money in a Ponzi scam devastates her and all she can think about is how she is not going to Kent (a private high school) with her best friend, Waverly. As she moves to Texas, with her little brother, to live with her mother's grandparents, she rediscovers herself and finds out how truly strong she is. Being the true socialite that she is, she has a crush on Rider, the school's hotshot musician, in hopes that he will get her out of the small town, when that is what he hopes from her when he finds out who she knows. The guy she should really be crushing on is Bubby, a hometown football hero, a guy who has liked her from the beginning (even if he will not admit it to himself) and has liked her for who she is not what she can help him achieve.

The Anatomical Shape of a Heart

Image result for the anatomical shape of a heart by jenn bennett

Wow! This novel hits on a topic that most people do not want to really talk about and I know I have stated this in my last post but this one truly does hit home for me. My aunt on my father's side had schizophrenia but no know talked about it, unlike Jillie, my aunt was not locked up she lived with my grandmother. At first glance, Jack and Beatrix would seem like an odd couple but they bring out the best in each other which is wonderful. Jack gets Bex to have a little color in her life and brings her out of her funk, while Bex brings a calmness to Jack that he has been missing. Bex is defiantely the heroin of her own story, with her artistic talent she brings two families together and does some healing for her own family and for Jack's family.

I give this novel 4 stars.

A List of Cages

A List of Cages

Absolutely love this book! Beautifully written! I could not put this one down, read it in one day. For someone who has dyslexia and a stuttering problem, this story really hit home for me because of how the teachers treated Julian but did not try to help him. They just assume that he is stupid instead, I personally went through the same thing but I didn't know that I had dyslexia. To be honest with you I absolutely hate Julian's teachers, they were unnecessarily cruel. Ms. Cross was the worst, I get that she is heartbroken but that is no reason to treat children the way she did. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good cry. I love Adam and his determination to be friends with Julian and his kindness towards everyone in his life.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****
Do not read if you can't stand child abuse.

I give this novel 5 stars.
